Alger is a village located in Hardin County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 888.

Geography


Alger is located at 40°42'32" North, 83°50'40" West (40.708828, -83.844512)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²). 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 888 people, 371 households, and 251 families residing in the village. The population density is 1,224.5/km² (3,138.0/mi²). There are 402 housing units at an average density of 554.3/km² (1,420.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 99.44% White, 0.00% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.45% from two or more races. 0.11% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 371 households out of which 32.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.6% are married couples living together, 12.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.1% are non-families. 29.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.39 and the average family size is 2.91. In the village the population is spread out with 27.0% under the age of 18, 10.4% from 18 to 24, 26.8% from 25 to 44, 21.6% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 79.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 82.0 males. The median income for a household in the village is $26,447, and the median income for a family is $33,438. Males have a median income of $29,250 versus $18,636 for females. The per capita income for the village is $14,742. 18.8% of the population and 13.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 25.0% are under the age of 18 and 15.9% are 65 or older.Alger is a town located in Skagit County, Washington. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 89.

As of the census of 2000, there are 89 people, 35 households, and 24 families residing in the town. The population density is 19.2/km² (49.7/mi²). There are 42 housing units at an average density of 9.1/km² (23.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 94.38% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 5.62% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 5.62% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 35 households out of which 31.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.1% are married couples living together, 8.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.6% are non-families. 25.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.54 and the average family size is 3.00. In the town the population is spread out with 21.3% under the age of 18, 12.4% from 18 to 24, 24.7% from 25 to 44, 25.8% from 45 to 64, and 15.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 41 years. For every 100 females there are 107.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 118.8 males. The median income for a household in the town is $13,542, and the median income for a family is $34,125. Males have a median income of $37,614 versus $36,250 for females. The per capita income for the town is $18,180. 35.8% of the population and 27.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 0.0% are under the age of 18 and 38.5% are 65 or older.
