AMC GREMLIN

Specialty Definition: AMC Gremlin

(From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia)

The AMC Gremlin was the first US supercompact car. Made by the American Motors Corporation for eight years from April 1, 1970 through the 1978 model year, a total of 671,475 Gremlins were made. The car came in a two door model ($1,879) and a four door hatchbank model ($1,959).

Legend has it the Gremlin design was first sketched out by designer Richard Teague on the back of a Northwest Orient air sickness bag. Eighteen months later, it was introduced.

The Gremlin was restyled and renamed the "AMC Spirit" and continued in production through 1983.
