Slovak language (Slovenčina or Slovenský jazyk) is a West Slavic language spoken in Slovakia. It is closely related to Czech in written form, but differs both phonetically and grammatically. The Slovak grammar is simpler (i.e. above all more regular) than Czech grammar, since the present-day Slovak language standard has been codified only in the 19th century. Slovak uses a modified Latin alphabet.
