Advance is a town located in Boone County, Indiana. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 562.

Geography


Advance is located at 39°59'48" North, 86°37'9" West (39.996577, -86.619289)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.6 km² (0.6 mi²). 1.6 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics


As of the census2 of 2000, there are 562 people, 183 households, and 150 families residing in the town. The population density is 344.4/km² (898.7/mi²). There are 190 housing units at an average density of 116.4/km² (303.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.93% White, 0.00% African American, 0.89% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.18% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 1.25% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 183 households out of which 45.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.3% are married couples living together, 7.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 17.5% are non-families. 13.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 2.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.07 and the average family size is 3.40. In the town the population is spread out with 33.5% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 32.6% from 25 to 44, 20.1% from 45 to 64, and 6.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 93.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.8 males. The median income for a household in the town is $45,000, and the median income for a family is $50,972. Males have a median income of $35,313 versus $21,500 for females. The per capita income for the town is $17,169. 6.9% of the population and 4.2% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 7.8% are under the age of 18 and 4.1% are 65 or older.Advance is a city located in Stoddard County, Missouri. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 1,244.

The racial makeup of the city is 98.31% White, 0.08% African American, 0.56% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.88% from two or more races. 0.32% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 544 households out of which 25.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.4% are married couples living together, 11.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 36.0% are non-families. 34.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 24.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.20 and the average family size is 2.80. In the city the population is spread out with 19.6% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 23.2% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 26.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 44 years. For every 100 females there are 76.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 69.2 males. The median income for a household in the city is $27,734, and the median income for a family is $38,167. Males have a median income of $27,833 versus $19,702 for females. The per capita income for the city is $15,036. 12.9% of the population and 8.1% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 16.6% are under the age of 18 and 13.5% are 65 or older.
